Dear Families

As part of a state law, public schools are required to provide parents and guardians with information about how they can access a list of registered sex offenders in their law enforcement jurisdiction.

The sex offender registry provides the public with certain information on the whereabouts of sex offenders so that members of local communities may better protect themselves and their children from these known sex offenders.

Parents will need to contact the correct jurisdiction to receive the list.  For example, City of Montrose residents will need to contact the Montrose Police Department (252-5200), county residents will need to contact the Montrose Sheriff’s Office (252-4023), and parents who live in the town of Olathe will need to provide proof of their address at the Olathe Police Department (323-4357).

In addition, the Colorado Sex Offender Management Board publishes the School Resource Guide to Sex Offender Registration, including information about the list itself and facts about sex offenders.  Access this link for a copy of the resource guide-
