October Count
Colorado public schools receive funding from a variety of sources. However, most revenues to Colorado’s 178 school districts are provided through the Public School Finance Act of 1994 (as amended). Funding is based on an annual October pupil count. Generally, pupils in grades 1 through 12 are counted either as full-time (FTE) or part-time depending upon the number of scheduled hours of coursework. Kindergarten pupils are counted as part-time.
