By your child's first birthday he/she should be able  to do the following :

 
  • Play pat-a-cake and wave goodbye
  • Pull self up to standing position and hold on to a chair
  • Play dumping and filling
  • Give a toy on request
  • Use "mama" and "dada" and several other words
  • Understand no
  • Get to and from sitting position by himself/herself
