"One Shot

One Kill"

Hunting season is the time for people to kill an animal for meat. The animal they are hunting is used for their survival needs. Another reason for some of us to go hunting is to take a week off of school or work to enjoy the peace of nature.

Every year we go hunting in Silverton, CO for muzzleloader deer and 2nd season rifle hunt for elk in Escalante Canyon. During rifle season we camp out the entire week. We hang around the campfire and joke with the other hunters about our shooting ability or just being dumb for walking 10 miles that day.

The equipment needed for hunting includes: gun(s) and ammo to kill your prey, food to fill your gut, shelter so you donn't get cold, some sort of orange clothing (it's the law) and I don't want to shoot you, urine scent so the animal doesn't know I am coming, knives and a saw to gut and quarter your game, and a pack animal to make your job easier by caring all the good meat.

The one thing I could never forget to bring when going hunting is the playing cards. If you have a whole week off and you shoot opening morning you have to have something to do so you do not get bored.

TIP:Befor you kill an elk make sure it is accessible. It is never fun trying to pack out a 1,000lb. animal out of a deep canyon.
