Dino Read Adventure

-Second Grade Sleepover-

Beginning today, April 7th, your child can earn the opportunity to earn an adventurous night together.  Yeah!

What:

Second Grade Sleepover at Pomona Elementary

Kids will need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, appropriate sleepwear, a toothbrush, a flashlight and $3.75 to help with cost of dinner and snacks.

Some of the evening activities will include a movie, dinner with Mr. Davidson, and a night tour of our school using flashlights.

How:

Each child will be able to participate in this event by meeting an at home reading goal of  445 minutes between April 7th and May 8th.  (Trivia Tidbit: This amount was determined by using the length of the longest dinosaur, the diplodocus which measured in at 89 feet).  We are asking that each child read 5 minutes to each linear foot in the length of the diplodocus (89 x 5 = 445).  This would average out to be about 17.8 minutes 5 days a week.

Parents will need to initial each dinosaur track for every 5 minutes of reading completed at home.

When

Friday, May 9th, 2008

You can drop your child off at the classroom at 5:00 pm. and pick them up on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m.  Late Pick-ups will be assessed a charge of $5.00 for every 15 minutes late.
