Professional Learning Philosophy
When learners are able to engage in reflective practice, collegiality and shared leadership, they come to understand themselves and their work differently.
Professional learning for all school district staff is a vital component of a strong educational organization. The National Staff Development Council (NSDC) believes that every educator should be engaging in effective professional learning every day so every student achieves.
Professional Learning Standards:
Context: organization, system or culture in which new leanings will be implemented
Process: refers to the “how” of staff development; it describes the means for the acquisition of new knowledge and skills.
Content: skills and knowledge acquired
Professional Learning Characteristics:
- Clear focus/goal-oriented/relevant
- High quality experience
- Ongoing training programs
- Intensive follow-up and support with continuous reflection and adjustments
- Engaging/hands-on
