Open Enrollment
What Is Open Enrollment?
Open Enrollment is the official process that allows families to apply to attend a school other than their assigned boundary school. This gives you more flexibility to choose a learning environment that works best for your child.
This process is outlined in school board policy JFBA, Intra-District Choice/Open Enrollment.

Do I Need to Apply?
You only need to complete an Open Enrollment application if:
- You want your child to attend a different school in 2026–27 than the one they currently attend,
OR - Your child is moving to a new school level (elementary ? middle or middle ? high) and you do not want them to attend their boundary school for that level.
You do NOT need to apply if your student is:
- Staying at the same school, or
- Moving to your boundary school for the next level
Open Enrollment applications are not required every year, only when you are requesting a change.
Open Enrollment Windows
Families can apply during two application cycles each year for the next school year:
Applying during Round 1 gives you the best chance of being placed at your preferred school. Placement during Round 2 is based on remaining availability after the first window.
