Student Safety & Wellness
Montrose County School District’s Safety & Wellness Teams are dedicated to creating safe, supportive, and thriving learning environments for every student.
Our multidisciplinary teams include social workers, behavior coaches, nurses, counselors, administrators, and community partners across law enforcement, mental health, and human services. Together, we identify student needs early, provide coordinated interventions, and ensure equitable access to care.
To address community need and the proactive support across the district, our work includes student threat assessment and management, behavioral and mental-health support, crisis response, family engagement, and ongoing staff training grounded in national best-practice models.
Referrals to the Safety & Wellness Teams are straightforward. Anyone can start the process by reaching out and saying “I am concerned about…” followed by what they’ve noticed. You don’t need to label the behavior or determine the level of need. Our team reviews every referral, gathers additional information as appropriate, and ensures students and families receive the right support.
