Board of Education
The Montrose County School District RE-1J Board of Education is responsible for providing governance and leadership to ensure quality education for all students in the district. The Board establishes policies, adopts budgets, and sets the strategic direction to support the district’s mission and goals.
The Board consists of seven elected members who represent the interests of the community and provide oversight for district operations. Each member serves a term defined by state regulations and works collaboratively to address the needs of students, staff, and families.

Responsibilities of the Board
- Establishing district policies in alignment with state and federal laws
- Approving the annual budget and monitoring financial management
- Hiring and evaluating the Superintendent
- Ensuring compliance with educational standards and regulations
- Engaging with the community to promote transparency and accountability
Meetings
The Board holds regular public meetings to discuss district business, review reports, and make decisions. Meeting schedules, agendas, and minutes are available for public review to maintain transparency.
