Dear Pomona Elementary Community, Families and Parents,
I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve this awesome community as principal of Pomona Elementary for a 6th year. This year is going to look a bit different as I will be serving both the Pomona community and Cottonwood Elementary community as principal. This is a unique situation, but it provides an opportunity for us to develop leadership across two schools as we will have assistant principals at both campuses. We are blessed to have Amber Patterson on the team as the Assistant Principal for the 23-24 school year. Amber will be maintaining the day to day operation of the school.
We have much to be excited for as we head into another school year at Pomona. Last spring PES was recognized as a Capturing Kids’ Hearts Showcase School for our dedication to a positive, safe, and student centered learning environment. This is the second year in a row that we have received this distinction and our goal is to continue our great work in this arena as we work for a third year with this distinction.
We invite you to kick-off the school year at our Meet the Teacher event on Friday, August 11th from 3:00-4:30. Students and families are invited to school to meet their teachers and drop off their supplies for the 23-24 school year. There will be popsicles for the kids and an opportunity to come together as a community. We will also host a Back to School BBQ event a few weeks later for the entire PES community (specific date and time TBD). School kicks off for our 1st-5th grade students on August 14th. We can’ wait to see all of our amazing students back in action!
The formative years of elementary are so important for our students and require a strong partnership between the school and families.
