MCSD Resource Adoption of SpringBoard ELA for Grades 6-12
MCSD is considering the adoption of College Board’s SpringBoard English Language Arts resource for all secondary schools, grades 6-12. SpringBoard is the highest-rated ELA resource by EdReports and is aligned to Colorado Academic Standards and College Board’s SAT Career and College Readiness benchmarks.
College Board's SpringBoard ELA resource offers a comprehensive curriculum for students in grades 6-12, designed to enhance critical thinking, close reading, writing in various genres, and research skills. The program includes a variety of literary works and genres such as poetry, novels, plays, biographies, nonfiction narratives, speeches, and films. Each grade level is built around a specific theme, and students progress from guided reading to independent work through collaborative projects. The curriculum focuses on developing students' abilities to gather evidence from texts, incorporate it into written and oral responses, and apply multiple perspectives to complex texts. Students are also taught to analyze how historical contexts have influenced literary performances and adaptations.
