SCHOOL SAFETY (SRP ~ Standard Response Protocol)

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLAN
OAK GROVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

In the event of an emergency at or near Oak Grove Elementary that requires school staff to take action, the following procedures will be followed.

LOCK DOWN! Locks, Lights, Out of Sight
Students - move out of sight/ maintain silence
Teachers-lock classroom door/lights out/move out of sight/silence

  • Teacher shuts blinds, turns off lights, locks doors and moves students to a section of the room where they cannot be seen from outside the room.
  • If a student is missing, unaccounted for or an extra student is in the room, the teacher will notify zone leader and the zone leader will notify the office.
  • The office staff will work to locate all students and report back to zone leaders.
  • The principal and custodian will contact authorities to address the situation that necessitated the lock down.

Lockout! Secure the Perimeter
All exterior doors and classrooms will be locked, blinds closed.Student mobility between buildings and classrooms will be limited. Instruction will continue as normal within the classroom.

SHELTER! (Directions to Follow)
This is for circumstances such as Tornados, Bomb threat or Hazmat emergencies. Staff and students will Drop, cover and hold for more information

EVACUATE! (Directions to Follow)
Premises Evacuation Procedures/Fire Drill:Students will be led out of buildings by teachers using evacuation routes. Classes assemble in the designated gathering location.Teachers will account for all students. If a student is missing teacher shows mustang card for assistance in locating the student.Information/directions will be provided by Emergency Officials/School Administrators.
 
Off Premises Evacuation:
If situations/circumstances necessitate that students and staff be evacuated to an off premises location, coordinated efforts will continue amongst school and district officials, staff, municipality authorities and district transportation personnel to maintain student and staff safety and ensure communication.

Student/Parent Reunification Method:
Circumstances may occur at the school that require parents to pick up their students in a formalized, controlled release.  This process is called a Reunification and may be necessary due to weather, a power outage, hazmat or if a crisis occurs at the school.

Off-Site Evacuation Location:
location will be determined by MCSD Administration
