COVID-19 Information

COVID School Guidance 2022-2023 School Year

(Reviewed on 11/27/23)

FOR STUDENTS
If a student tests positive for COVID-19:
  • Families should report a student’s COVID positivity to their child’s school front office.
  • The positive student needs to stay home for five days (from the start of their symptom onset or positive test day if no symptoms) and may return to school activities on day six if their symptoms are abating (i.e. they are feeling better and have no fever, or continue to be asymptomatic).
  • MCSD recommends the positive student wear a mask upon their return for days six through day ten, though masks are not required.
  • Contact tracing and quarantine are no longer required for other individuals at school or activities, but leaders, teachers, coaches, and school staff will be vigilant for symptoms and spread.
FOR STAFF
If a staff member tests positive for COVID-19:
  • Staff should communicate their COVID positivity to their principal or supervisor.
  • The positive staff member needs to stay home for five days (from the start of their symptom onset or positive test day if no symptoms) and may return to school operations on day six if their symptoms are abating (i.e. they are feeling better and have no fever, or continue to be asymptomatic).
  • MCSD recommends the positive staff member wear a mask upon their return for days six through day ten, though masks are not required.
  • Contact tracing and quarantine are no longer required for other individuals at school or work, but leaders will be vigilant for symptoms and spread.
MCSD will remain flexible based on the different circumstances surrounding viral exposures and the changing nature of the pandemic (measures such as contact tracing and quarantine may be re-implemented in the event or risk of outbreak or ongoing transmission in schools).
