Title IX

Title IX

Montrose County School District is committed to providing a working and learning environment that is free from discrimination based on sex (which includes sexual harassment). Given this, the District does not discriminate on the basis of sex in any of its education programs or activities. The District is required by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ("Title IX") and its regulations not to discriminate in such a manner. 

Title IX's requirement not to discriminate in any of the District's education programs or activities extends to admission and employment. Inquiries about the application of Title IX and its regulations to the District may be referred to the District's Title IX Coordinator, The Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights of the United States Department of Education, or both:

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972

Title IX is a federal law that states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. "The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (ORC). enforces Title IX.

Who can contact the Title IX Coordinator?

Any person may report sex discrimination, including sexual harassment, to the Title IX Coordinator, regardless of whether the person reporting is the person alleged to the victim of conduct  that could constitute sex discrimination or sexual harassment.
